All communications for current parents and students will now be distributed through the Canvas grade book system. This is both to be more efficient and to comply with county policies.
The band did a great job at the first football game! It was a wonderful performance and the support they showed in cheering on the team to victory is commendable. It was especially nice to see the kids from the Long Reach and Mt Hebron Band interacting with each other in such a positive way. We look forward to seeing them again next weekend at the University of Maryland Massed Band Day.
All percussion and color guard practices scheduled for August 6 and 7 are cancelled. The band room is simply not ready to host rehearsals. We will all start at 8am on Monday, August 10

We are in the process of planning and starting to work on our fall show "FUSION." If you are hoping to join us in the fall you must register via this web site so that I can place you on my summer contact list! Simply click on the "Registration" button to the left and complete the information requested. Band camp starts in Mid-August, and all band camp dates are required, so be sure to check the calendar as well!
Hey all...the registration for G/T Band auditions are a little confusing. You must first register to audition, and then later there will be a sign up for audition times. The link to register is as follows:
Fill in your information and then more information will come regarding times after you are registered. If there are questions please stop by TODAY.
If they can do it so can everyone else...keep motivated, we are almost there!
Ok...we have plenty of kids available to play at the football game, but not enough to perform our halftime show. This is disappointing, but it does simplify things quite a bit:
1. No National Anthem...the LRHS Madrigals will be singing in our place, which means...
2. No uniforms...kids should wear Long Reach spirit wear, and...
3. Report time is shifted to 4:45...just long enough to get the instruments and get down to the field as a group...anyone arriving late from sports activities will need to have their music/instrument with them...that should get you through the gate without buying a ticket.
Color guard: This was a difficult decision because we want the whole team together, but I agree that there is not much for you to do in the stands, and you have already committed two nights to the band this week. You are encouraged but not required to attend, but if you do come to the game the expectation is that you will be with the band and perform as much as you can.
After school: I have tried to make it very clear to the kids that they cannot simply hang out in the band room after school until designated report times, but this has been a continuing problem. I am told by security that when I leave I must lock the music wing. I do understand that the timing of the game makes it very difficult, but I have no choice as I need to pick up my children from school.
Parent volunteers: The equipment going to the field will be minimal, but we would still love to have you along. I would especially love to have a few parents around right at the report time. I have family commitments after school and will likely be fighting traffic to get to LRHS on time.
Just a quick note about Thursday. I know there are a lot of conflicts with sports teams, inductions, and classes. I would ask for everyone to make sure of their schedule issues tonight. Then when I see the kids tomorrow we will get a clear picture of the situation and make a decision on how to proceed.
